You can also marvel at the sheer complexity of what they've designed here.

All I want for Christmas...
If hubbie should ask you what I want for Christmas, send him here. Isn't it beautiful?
Marnie...the puppies...and Masterfile
The lovely Marnie is a frequent contributor to the stock agency, Masterfile. At about this time last year, she agreed to photograph the puppies for me and in return I let her submit a couple of the photos to Masterfile. Recently, one of the photos sold - we're not sure where, but she thinks it was the Microsoft website.

Fonts, wonderful fonts...sung to the tune of "Food, glorious food" from the musical Oliver...
My favourite place for deals on fonts is myfonts.com. Check out the Specials section - you can even get a free font at the moment.
But if you've got the bucks and want something fancier, it's Veer all the way.

Here's another design blog by Michael Surtees - a fellow member of the Graphic Designers of Canada. Some interesting stuff.

More Dilbert...
Check out the blog of Dilbert creator, Scott Adams.
An amusing read.
Oh, and I encourage you to join the DNRC before the InDUHviduals take over the world completely.

Dilbert Weasel Award Poll
I love Dilbert. His take on management and bureaucracy always makes me laugh. I'm a long time member of the DNRC.
Here are the results of the Weasel Award Poll for 2005.

Sydney Opera House - Virtual Tour
I confess to loving this virtual tour. I first discovered it about 8 years ago after visiting Sydney and the Opera House on a day when there was a performance which meant I couldn't get in for a real tour.
This is one of the most beautiful buildings in the world - it truly is spectacular juting out over the harbour. Amazing.
Enjoy the virtual tour - follow that bouncing ball!

Websites that Suck
Here's one site you don't want to aspire to. It's actually a great place to learn about usability, what is considered bad design, etc.
Websitesthatsuck.com
Check out the Suckers of the Day.

HOW magazine
HOW is a very good magazine for designers. I have a personal subscription. Lots of great articles, features, etc. The HOW site has info about the magazine and you can also join the HOW forum and talk about all things design with other designers. Wouldn't recommend it if you're not a designer - you might find it a bit perplexing - but if you have an interest, it's a great forum.
Send This File
If Dropload isn't working (like today) there is another site that does the same thing - www.sendthisfile.com. Also free and works pretty much the same way. Very handy.

WetNoz - for the design concious canine.
LOVE WetNoz. They have won many awards for both their product and packaging design. We have one of the Big Pooch bowls courtesy of a certain someone with Scotties. The Westies don't seem that impressed but I think it looks fabulous in the house!
SHHHH!
Coudal Partners is a really interesting design firm in Chicago. There's a long article about them in the most recent issue of HOW. Their site is essentially a BLOG that all team members contribute to. SHHH stands for The Society for Handheld Hushing." Next time someone is annoying you by answering or talking on their cell phone in an inappropriate place or time, whip out one of these cards and you'll feel better immediately.
